Alex Smith is not a Mormon

As of March 2014, there is no proof that Alex Smith, who plays quarterback for the NFL, is a Mormon. Even though there are rumours of a connection, Smith has never talked about his religion in public, and he is not on a list of the League’s Mormon players.

Many people think that Alex Smith is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because he went to college in Utah, where as many as 60 percent of the people are Mormon.

But Smith was born in Seattle and raised in Southern California, which critics are quick to point out. Smith also went to the University of Utah, which is a big rival of the Mormon school Brigham Young University.
