How Do I Unlock a Frigidaire Self Cleaning Oven’s Lock?

A lock keeps the door from opening during the cleaning cycle on the Frigidaire self-cleaning oven. Before and after the cleaning cycle, the oven door may lock. Whether the oven door has been locked in the closed or open position will determine how to unlock it.

If the door is locked open, you must hold down the light switch while programming the oven’s self-cleaning cycle, waiting a few seconds, then cancelling the cycle and waiting another few seconds before you may close the door. If the oven door is locked, unplug and replug the appliance before gently opening it. Attempt beginning and stopping the self-cleaning cycle as well.

As you hold the light switch

If the oven door is locked open, depress and hold the light switch while you carry out the remaining steps to undo the lock.

Make the oven self-cleaning.

Set your Frigidaire oven to do self-cleaning. Before turning off the oven’s self-clean function, wait at least 20 seconds. Wait once more for at least 20 seconds. Switch off the light. Now that the door is open and unlocked, you can close it.

Plug the oven out.

Unplug your oven unit from the wall outlet if your oven door has been locked in the closed position. At least five minutes should pass without using the oven. Reset the oven’s timer, then carefully open the door when you’ve unlocked it.

Make the oven self-cleaning.

An alternative method is to set the oven to self-clean for no more than 15 minutes, at which point you can cancel the rest of the cleaning cycle. Before moving on, let the oven cool. The lock has been released, therefore you can now open the door.
