Domino’s Pizza has been serving pizza since 1960, when it began with a single location in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The first Domino’s franchise opened in the city seven years later. The first non-Michigan store opened in Burlington, Vermont, in 1968. In 1983, the 1,000th restaurant opened, as well as the first in Australia. In the mid-1980s, the firm exploded, with 954 new pizzerias debuting in 1985 alone.
