How Many Workdays a Year, Including Holidays, Are Typical?

There are around 261 workdays in a typical year. This figure is based on the methods the US Bureau of Personnel Management uses to determine pay rates.

The Bureau states that full-time pay rates are determined using 2,087 hours of labour per year. Dividing this amount by the typical weekday length of 8 hours gives the result of 261 workdays, which is rounded up.

However, as factors like vacation and holiday time are distributed at the exclusive discretion of individual businesses, this figure may change depending on company rules and the number of years of employment.
