How Much are Inches in Surveying Tenths?

Surveying tenths can be multiplied by a factor of 1 3/16 to get inches. Tenths are equal to 1 3/16 inches, making conversions in the field quite straightforward.

One more useful ratio to keep in mind is that one inch is equivalent to 0.0833 tenths of a foot. This makes it possible to quickly convert between imperial and decimal feet as necessary.

The easiest way to work with hundredths of a foot is to convert 10 inches to 0.833 tenths, then divide the result by 10. Last but not least, many rulers and tape measures are hatched with tenths, which gives the measurement more accuracy.
