Is Lettuce Good for Your Stomach?

The stomach does not grow when you eat greens. Raffinose is a gas-producing carbohydrate found in leafy green vegetables like lettuce and cabbage. Some people are deficient in the enzymes required to break down this starch. As a result, after eating lettuce, their stomachs may feel stretched or bloated.

In the digestive system, gas expands. It might cause discomfort until the body finds a mechanism to break it down or release it in this state. After eating gassy foods, internal organs are not permanently stretched. The pressure from the gas, on the other hand, causes organs like the stomach to feel stretched.
