Swinton Avenue Trading: What Is It? – Swinton Avenue Trading Limited is an Office Depot subsidiary based in Delaware with a mailing address in Boca Raton, Florida. The company imports office furniture, such as desks and chairs, for Office Depot.
Swinton Avenue Trading’s Realspace and Sauder ranges of workstations, libraries, and organisers are sold through Office Depot as of 2014.
The company made headlines in May 2014 when Office Depot recalled its Gibson Leather Task Chairs. The chairs, which were made by numerous Chinese companies, featured a flaw that could break the mounting plate weld and detach the seat from the chair.
Between 2003 and 2012, some 1,400,000 of these chairs were shipped to Office Depot stores, and the recall came after 153 reports of seat weld cracks or breakage. Twenty-five of the reports detailed injuries sustained when the chair broke, with one requiring medical attention.
Consumers can get a $55 credit if they return these chairs to an Office Depot location. The chair was designed to seem like another Swinton product, the Biella Office Chair. This chair had a similar design issue to the Gibson chair and was recalled considerably sooner.
