What Age Can You Legally Watch Children in California?

There is no minimum age limit for babysitting in the state of California. According to California’s labour rules, a minor cannot receive a work permit for any other form of work until they are 12 years old.

Babysitting is defined as irregular work under California labour regulations and is exempt from the necessity for a work permit. Underage children are permitted to perform sporadic odd jobs in private homes, including babysitting.

The American Red Cross, which offers certifications and training in babysitting, advises that children babysit when they are at least 11 years old. The maturity to conduct babysitting tasks is not necessarily represented in age, according to experts, who also claim that an 11-year-old who has received babysitting training is frequently better prepared than an older youngster who has not.
