What Are the Dimensions of a Standard Driveway?

A single-car driveway’s normal length and width are 18 to 20 feet long and 10 to 12 feet wide, respectively. A two-car driveway should be 18 to 20 feet wide and 18 to 20 feet long if the cars are parked side by side.

A minimum driveway width of 10 feet is recommended, and a wider driveway allows people to depart their vehicles without stepping on the lawn or garden beds. While these are conventional specifications, if there are buildings near the driveway, such as a retaining wall that runs the length of the property, more room is recommended. Each additional car requires an additional 18 to 20 feet of length for homeowners who must park automobiles one behind the other.
