What Does “International Shipment Release” Mean?

“Intl shipment release” is a FedEx tracking status that means customs officials in the country of the recipient have processed the package and let it go. This phrase only applies to FedEx packages that cross borders.

International shipping starts in the country of the sender, where FedEx gets the package and takes it through customs. The package is then sent to the country of the recipient. Once the package arrives at the port of entry into the recipient’s country, customs officials check it and pay any taxes and duties that are due. The package is then taken to a FedEx centre and sent to the address of the person who ordered it.
