What Does It Mean to Wear a Black Bandana?

Most of the time, gang membership is linked to wearing a black bandana. Several different gangs are linked to different bandana colours and colour combinations, which are tracked by law enforcement.

Some gangs, like the Latin Kings, Black Gangster Disciples, MS 13, Vice Lords, and 18th Street, are said to wear black bandanas and other colours or combinations of colours to show that they belong to that gang.

On the other hand, Crips are linked to the colour blue, and Bloods usually wear red bandanas. Other ways to tell if someone is in a gang are through tattoos, hand signs, graffiti, and special language. By making people aware of common gang symbols, public safety measures hope to spot and stop juvenile crime and gang activity.
