What Does “mhm” Mean in Text?

In text messages, the symbol “mhm” denotes agreement with another person’s statement. It is a texting and Internet slang technique to respond to someone else using the words “yeah,” “uh huh,” “I agree,” or “ok.”

When said aloud, the texting term “mhm” resembles the mouth-humming “mm-hmm” that one makes when nodding and concurring with another person.

The abbreviation “mhm” is also used in a number of less prevalent texting and online slang expressions. Members Helping Members, Mile High Music, Married Hispanic Male, Melon Head Man, and Metal Heads Mission are other expressions that can be made with the abbreviation “mhm.”
