Green beer bottles come in many different brands. Two well-known companies that package their beer in green bottles are Heineken and Beck’s. While Beck’s was established in 1873 and is the most popular German lager in the world, Heineken beer has been around since 1975.
All beer bottles let in some light, albeit brown glass does so to a lesser extent than clear or green glass. Beer degrades and develops an unpleasant odour and flavour when particular molecules are exposed to a certain amount of ultraviolet radiation. This is the reason beer bottles are frequently packed in cardboard boxes that block off light.
